Everything you talk about in therapy is confidential. The only time confidentiality may be broken is if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. This would usually be discussed with you first wherever possible.
Therapy usually takes place at the same time each week. Having a regular weekly session helps to provide consistency, stability and a safe space to think and reflect.
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes long.Couples therapy sessions are 50 minutes long.Supervision sessions are 90 minutes long.
If you need to cancel a session, I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice. Late cancellations or missed sessions are charged at the full fee.
I offer therapy face-to-face, by telephone and online. We can think together about which way of working feels most comfortable and appropriate for you.
Some people come to therapy with a specific issue they would like to work on, and short-term therapy (around 6–12 sessions) may be helpful. Others come to therapy wanting to understand themselves more deeply, and longer-term therapy offers the time and space for this deeper exploration. We can review this together as therapy progresses.
I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation initially. If we decide to go ahead, we will arrange an assessment session. The assessment session is 90 minutes long and gives us the opportunity to explore in more depth what has brought you to therapy, some background information, and what you would like from therapy. After the assessment, if we decide to continue, we will agree a regular weekly session time.
